By: 12th class is the last leg of a student’s school life. It is very important to opt for the right course after 12th standard as it is the stepping stone of your future. This decision should to be taken after a lot of brainstorming and deliberation as your future depends upon the option you choose. 1. Engineering
Engineering can be considered as a good option to pursue after school. You can choose from the diverse options available according to your interest and preference. You can select from Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Marine, Computer Science, and Agricultural to Aeronautical engineering. As this field involves new technologies, the scope for students pursing engineering continues to grow.
2. Bachelor of science (B Sc)
B.Sc is quite a good option to go for and helps in building an excellent career. It is basically understanding, reasoning and improving the natural world through systematic observation, experimentation, modeling and calculation. The most opted B Sc courses in India are Agriculture, Botany, Earth Science, Operational Research and Zoology.
3. Bachelor of medicine, Bachelor of surgery (MBBS)
Seems like two courses but in practice it is actually a single qualification. It is the most sought after course for those science students who want to become a doctor. If you too are interested in becoming a doctor, this course is 5 years and 6 months long and awards you the prefix of a doctor (Dr.) before your name.
4. Bachelors of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
By doing this course also, you can become a Doctor, but an Ayurvedic Doctor. This course is picking up steam lately. People are becoming very health conscious these days. Rather than going to a family physician or a surgeon, people first try ayurvedic solutions as it has no side effects. BAMS duration is 5 and ½ years.
5. Bachelor of Technology (BTech)
It is an undergraduate degree conferred after completion of a 3 or 4-year program of studies at a university-level institution. Due to the recent upsurge in software industry, students pursuing B Tech have good placement opportunities.
6. Para Medicine
Students pursuing a para medical course will be working as an assistant to the doctors in focused areas and aids for improved diagnosis and therapy. Due to the increase in number of patients and various diseases’, the requirement for paramedics has increased many folds. You can choose from courses like physiotherapist, nutrition and dietetics, medical lab technology and audiology.
7. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)
BDS is an undergraduate dentistry course and deals with the study of teeth, gums and other part of the oral cavity. With an increasing awareness of oral health and the introduction of new fields like oral pathology (diagnosis for diseases that affect the mouth), periodontics (care of gums and the diseases that might afflict them) and orthodontics (straightening and aligning teeth and jaws) have all enhanced the scope in this field.
8. B Pharmacy
This course is 4 years long. After getting this degree, you can open a chemist’s shop, become a medical representative or take up a job in pharmaceutical company.
9. Food Technologist
Food Technology is a science which deals with the techniques and principles involved in processing and preserving the food substances. The career options or possibilities are unlimited for the student. You can choose to work in food manufacturing industries. Positions like new product developer, production supervisor, production executive and quality controller are easily available.
10. Pilot
Science students can opt for Pilot training courses if they do not want to pursue anything related to medical stream. Being a pilot is one of the finest and best careers across the globe. It provides many lucrative jobs and exceptional salary structure. You can become a corporate aviation pilot or agricultural flying pilot or could fly full time in the military and regional airplanes.
